What goes on there?
Based in Loughborough, the Station is an indoor bouldering centre with over 800 square metres of bouldering surface covering all types of crazy angles. There is also a top rope wall which can be utilised for learning the basics of roped climbing.
What is bouldering?
Bouldering is a form of rock climbing practiced at lower heights which don't require ropes, but normally use crash mats to cushion climbers' landings. Shedding the equipment involved in roped climbing, bouldering is a popular alternative as it is more accessible for learners and can be more sociable as climbers are never far above friends or onlookers.
How can beginners climb the same wall as experts?
All abilities are catered for with multiple paths, of varying difficulty, heading up and across each wall. The different routes are marked by different coloured holds, with a key positioned at floor height so climbers can easily choose a route that matches their skill level before taking their first step.
Is there somewhere to refuel?
There is a cafe with freshly ground coffee, hot chocolate, tea and a selection of cakes including the famed tiffin and flapjack.
