Flavoursome countryside fare may take the shape of a Dedham Vale steak and ale pie with chunky chips or mash, seasonal vegetables and gravy; a vegetarian lasagne with garlic bread and dressed leaves; or dressed Devon crab with buttered new potatoes, mixed leaves and a citrus mayonnaise. The Merchant

The Swan serves meals and refreshments at a Colchester location on the verges of the River Colne. The kitchen crafts British classics like steak and ale pie and fish and chips, as well as pizza baked in an authentic oven, and a range of sharing boards and salads. The bar serves a rotating array of regional ales, plus international beers, wines and spirits. The traditional interior features wooden beams and feature walls, while outdoor seating offers riverside views.
