Overview

• Control skids and slides. Lose control to gain control.

• Learn how to react to adverse conditions in a secure environment

• Drive standard road cars on a low grip skid pan, cradles are not used

• The course lasts around 1 hour

• Experiences operate on a 3:1 driver ratio, with drivers taking turns behind the wheel

• Tuition is NOT 1:1 as others will ride as passengers in the vehicles when not driving, unless you purchase the 1:1 package.

• You will form part of a group of up to 6 drivers between 2 cars Itinerary:

• Welcome, introduction and safety briefing

• Initial driving session on the skid pan

• Classroom session with an instructor

• Driving session on the skid pan

• Braking exercises (ABS and cadence)

• Debrief with presentation Suitable For

• All participants must be over 17yrs old

• All drivers must hold the minimum of a provisional manual driving licence

• Please note the vehicles are manual so you must know how to drive a manual car Availability

At TMS Car Control and Handling School, we off the opportunity to take part in our exciting driving experience at Tockwith Motorsports Centre, on our skid pan! Upon arrival at the venue near York, you'll meet the experienced team, all of whom have a background in racing and rallying, all are qualified ARDS or BARS Instructors. They can teach people of all backgrounds the art of understanding car control. It really is suitable for all levels of experience and driving aptitude. Before heading out to the pan, you'll receive a short safety briefing to ensure that you're ready to enjoy your driving experience securely. During the first session, you'll get the chance to try the car out on the circuit and discover just how easy it is to lose control of a car. There will be a mixture of in car and in classroom activities covering all aspects of skid control. You will receive an informative classroom session covering all aspects of skid control. This includes front-wheel skids, rear-wheel skids, four-wheel skids, weight transfer, spin, oversteer and understeer, so you'll be armed with all the knowledge you need to successfully control the car. As well as understanding and experiencing losing control to gain control, we will also tutor you on things like Anti-lock Braking Systems and cadence braking, which are both essential factors to bear in mind when driving on hazardous roads. When we are back on circuit, you will be able to put your newly acquired skills to the test!
