Big Ben and Buckingham Palace
Start the adventure with a bang as you meet with your guide outside of the Westminster Tube station at the foot of Big Ben. Your Blue Bike rental will be waiting for you next to where all of the Lords of Parliament park their own bikes. Once you’re all set up the cycling tour will start with a peaceful ride alongside of Saint James Park with it’s gorgeous lake and greenery.
Arriving at the end of Saint James Park you will be in front of the most famous home in England, the Queen’s home: Buckingham Palace. You’ll learn about its rich history as well as the traditional “Changing of the Guard” ceremony. Then continuing on you’ll cycle along the Thames River and stop for a fantastic view of the London Eye.
Shakespeare’s Globe and Borough MarketAfter crossing the Thames you’ll arrive in front of the Tate Modern and learn a bit about it’s art collection. A few minutes later you’ll stop to admire the thatched roof theatre called Shakespeare’s Globe. Your guide will also make sure to point out the gorgeous view of Saint Paul’s Cathedral and share the funny story of London's “Wobbly Bridge”.
By this point in the tour you might be getting hungry. So the guide will lead you to the fabulous Borough Market with its hundreds of fantastic food stalls and you’ll have 30 minutes for a lunch break. Enjoy a local classic such as: fish and chips or beef pot pie with mashed peas or try something a bit more spicy like Indian curry or Ethiopian tibs before continuing the adventure.
Borough MarketThe Tower of London and Westminster AbbeyAfter the lunch break you’ll start exploring the smaller back streets of London and wind your way through the docks until you arrive next to the beautiful Tower Bridge that leads to the Tower of London. The guide will stop next to the bridge and help you get some of your best souvenir photos and of course share the fascinating history of these two famous London icons.
Continuing along the small back streets you’ll be taken to the foot of the ever tall Shard building and then along the River Thames again. You’ll stop to learn about Cleopatra’s Needle and how it was lost at sea and finally you’ll visit the most famous church in London: Westminster Abbey where Kings and Queens are crowned and where one odd fellow was buried standing up.
