We will see Colchester Castle from the outside and learn about its Roman origins, architecture and the many lives its lived since original creation! Please note, we will not enter Colchester Castle on this tour.

We will stop at Colchester's War Memorial, learning about it's creation and the structure itself.

Stop At: Balkerne Gate
Balkerne Passage, Colchester
Looking from the outside, I will explain some of the key architectural features of this beautiful Baroque style building. We will talk about it's inspiration as well as the Victorian era in which it was devised. Please note, we will not be entering Colchester Town Hall during this tour.

The tour will take in the magnificent Jumbo Water Tower. I will tell the story of how it got it's name and the reason for its creation! Please note, we will not be entering or climbing Jumbo Water Tower during this tour.

Colchester's still functioning Roman Gate! We will complete our tour at Balkerne Gate, learning about the dramatic and juicy history that surrounds it's creation! The magnificent archway is the perfect place for taking a picture!
