Highlights
Housed within the buildings and grounds of a former WWII Prisoner of War camp, Eden Camp presents the most comprehensive permanent public exhibition relating to 20th Century British military and 1930s-40s civilian and social history in the world.
Many of its 28 exhibition huts contain life size reconstructed scenes of life during WWII, and a subtle use of technology allows visitors to experience the sights, sounds and even the smells of life on both the Home Front and Front Line during World War Two.
The museum is also home to a growing collection of tanks, vehicles, artillery and other military hardware, and it's entrance is 'guarded' by a Hawker Hurricane and Supermarine Spitfire. During the course of the year, the museum hosts a number of military veterans parades and living history/re-enactment weekends.
About This Deal
Visit: Eden Camp Modern History Theme Museum, Eden Camp, Malton YO17 6RT England
Since Stan Johnson opened Eden Camp in 1987, in the buildings and grounds of an original World War Two Prisoner of War Camp, a unique historical site has been given new life by developing the museum into an award-winning attraction for all the family, that is both entertaining and educational.
Through close collaboration with veterans groups we’ve created immersive displays that cover both social and military history and our archive has grown into a resource of national historical importance.
We’ve made significant improvements to the original site over time, with recent complete refurbishments of our café and gift shop and much more planned over the coming years.
