Lord and Lady Carnarvon will be opening their home once again for a special one-day event with Tours of the Castle and Exhibition in aid of Médecins Sans Frontières (also known as Doctors without Borders).
"MSF is one of the charities we supported at our 'Heroes at Highclere' Weekend in September. It is an international humanitarian medical non-governmental organisation (NGO) of French origin, best known for its projects in conflict zones and in countries affected by endemic diseases. The doctors and nurses go to help the people in the greatest need, wherever and whenever they need it. This will always be what motivates them" .
We will depart London in the morning to make our way directly to Highclere Castle - the Grantham family home in Downton Abbey. You will be able to see the Library, Drawing Room, Music Room and the Smoking Room in real life but filled with festive decorations! Part of the tour includes a Christmas service in the Courtyard, with Songs for Peace.
In the afternoon we make the short drive to Bampton. A delightful village in the Oxfordshire Cotswolds which was used extensively in the Downton Abbey TV series for filming. The Village Library was used for Downton Cottage Hospital and Doctor's surgery whilst St.Mary's Church was the 'Downton Church' and Church Square. Churchgate House was portrayed for the exterior shots of the Crawley family home too. You will also have time to walk around this little village to explore the local shops, Post Office and the Grantham Arms, which were all featured in the popular TV series.
The perfect Christmas day out for any Downton Abbey fan, and part of your ticket cost goes directly to the charity Medicins Sas Frontieres.
Important note about cancellations - Due to the limited availability of Highclere Castle tickets all bookings for this day trip are 100% non refundable.
