Kirkstone Pass is the highest mountain pass in the Lake District. It is at an altitude of 1,489 feet and is open to motor traffic connecting Ambleside in the Rothay Valley to Patterdale in the Ullswater Valley. In places, the gradient is 1 in 4. Probably the Lake District’s most impressive Pass providing picturesque views to Brothers Water on the descent to Patterdale.
