Make your own way to Victoria Coach Station in central London to meet your guide. Then, hop aboard a luxury coach and relax on the journey to Windsor, most famous for its majestic castle, an official residence of Queen Elizabeth II.
On arrival, take in the charming medieval buildings as you traverse the cobbled lanes with your guide. Snap photos of the house where William Shakespeare lived when he wrote The Merry Wives of Windsor, and see the warrant for Charles I’s execution. Then, be wowed by the stately Windsor Castle as you walk around the perimeter and hear fascinating anecdotes about the stronghold’s dramatic history.
Continue on to Salisbury Plain, along the way taking in stunning views of the English countryside and Runnymede, where the Magna Carta — the 13th-century document that paved the way for modern-day democracy — was signed.
Find yourself speechless as you arrive at Stonehenge, standing alone in the expanse of the plain. Dating back to the Neolithic period, the UNESCO-listed stone circle is shrouded in mystery. Walk around the stones with your guide, listening to some of the theories as to how or why it appeared.
Next, break for lunch at a quintessentially English pub, where you can sample traditional ‘pub grub’ (hearty British food) such as fish and chips.
With your appetite sated, make for Lacock. Dating back to the Saxon era, the ancient village has been featured in many films including Pride and Prejudice and the Harry Potter movies.
Make your final stop at the spa town of Bath. Set off by foot and by coach to explore the UNESCO-listed city. See the city’s premier sights, including Pulteney Bridge and the Royal Crescent, and absorb the caramel-hued Georgian architecture that inspired two Jane Austen novels: Persuasion and Northanger Abbey.
When the time comes, return to London, where your day trip concludes near the original start point.
