About This Deal
Itinerary
This is a typical itinerary for this product
Stop At: Glenfinnan Viaduct, Glenfinnan Lodge A830 Rd, Glenfinnan PH37 4LT Scotland
Our first stop of the day is timed to coincide with the "Hogwarts Express" steam train crossing the Glenfinnan Viaduct. Even if you are not a Harry Potter fan, this is an enthralling sight, and makes for a wonderful photo.
In addition to watching the train you will also have time to spend at the other attractions here, including the Glenfinnan Monument, which sits in a scenic location on the shores of Loch Shiel, and seeks to commemorate the Jacobites. If you are interested in finding out more about this historic period then you can pop in to the National Trust Visitor Centre.
Entrance to the monument and Visitor Centre are optional and not included in the tour price.
Duration: 1 hour 15 minutes
Stop At: Corpach, Corpach, Fort William, Lochaber, Scottish Highlands, Scotland
Ben Nevis is Britain's highest mountain, standing at a magnificent 1345 metres tall. We will take you to our favourite vantage point, down by the shores of Loch Eil, so that you can admire the majesty of the Ben from afar.
For days when Ben Nevis is shrouded in mist this is still a great stop as, in the water just metres from the stony beach, is the Old Boat of Caol. This intriguing shipwreck makes for an excellent photo, whatever the weather.
Duration: 20 minutes
Stop At: Glencoe, Glencoe, Scottish Highlands, Scotland
Glencoe is one of Scotland's most beautiful locations (that is quite a feat, as we have a lot of beautiful landscapes!) and, as the site of the infamous Massacre of Glencoe, is also steeped in a tragic history, which your guide will fill you in on.
We will drive all the way up the “Pass of Glencoe” to the start of Glen Etive, which is home to Buachaille Mor, one of Scotland’s most recognisable mountain peaks.
We have a number of stops along the way, and in total spend around 2 - 3 hours in the area, approximately 1 hour of which is spent off the bus exploring.
Duration: 1 hour
Stop At: Commando Monument, Spean Bridge, Spean Bridge PH34 4EG Scotland
The Commando Memorial is one of Scotland’s most iconic and well known statues and commemorates those members of this elite military force who lost their lives in WW2.
As well as being an important historic monument, there are also fantastic views of the surrounding mountains from here.
Duration: 15 minutes
Stop At: Fort Augustus, Fort Augustus, Loch Ness Region, Scottish Highlands, Scotland
We will stop in Fort Augustus, a charming village on the shores of Loch Ness. There will be an opportunity to browse the shops, pick up a coffee or some local food in one of the local eateries, and spend some time exploring the village.
In addition to its wonderful loch-side location (perfect for Nessie spotting!) this village is also of interest as it is cut through by the Caledonian Canal, with five loch gates being situated here. You may wish to walk up the canal and see pleasure boats sailing through the gates, or head to the new Caledonian Canal Centre to find out about the history of this ingenious feat of engineering.
Duration: 30 minutes
Stop At: Suidhe Viewpoint, B862, Fort Augustus IV2 6UP Scotland
On our way home we take the road-less-travelled along the south side of Loch Ness. As we travel we will enjoy wonderful scenery and often spot red deer, feral goats and other wildlife.
The highlight of the journey is the 400 metre high summit known as the “Suidhe viewpoint” which affords breathtaking views.
Duration: 10 minutes
Stop At: Dores, Dores, Loch Ness Region, Scottish Highlands, Scotland
Our last stop of the day is at Dores Beach, recently voted one of the top views in the UK! Here you can take a stroll along the beach, to admire Loch Ness from a different angle, grab a drink from the cosy loch-side pub or say hello to Steve Feltham; the world's most famous Nessie Hunter!
Dores Beach is a WOW end to a truly WOW day, and from here we return to Inverness, with memories to last a lifetime.
