About This Deal
The Deal
What is laser eye surgery?
Laser eye surgery aims to correct near-sightedness, far-sightedness, or astigmatism. The operation is performed under local eye drop anaesthetic, and involves a careful reshaping of the cornea without the use of a blade.
What happens at the consultation?
The practitioner will explain the process and perform an eye test. There will then be an opportunity to raise any questions and concerns, and discuss the risks and factors of consideration.
What is the difference between treatments?
The custom LASIK treatment takes into account the unique visual characteristics of client’s eyes, going one step further than standard treatment by aiming to enhance contrast sensitivity and ability to see fine details. A thin flap is created on the cornea using a microkeratome before the cornea is reshaped using a laser, with the procedure taking around five minutes. The Intralase treatment instead uses a femtosecond micro laser to cut the cornea with greater precision, with the aim of creating thinner flaps. A consultant ophthalmic surgeon will carry out all stages of the surgery for either option.
Who is suitable for the treatment?
The sessions are suitable for short-sightedness of up to -7 dioptres and long-sightedness up to +3 dioptres, or up +6 dioptres to for those with astigmatism. If found to be unsuitable then a full refund will be available. The surgery cannot prevent age-related deterioration of vision.
What aftercare is needed?
Clients will need to rest their eyes after the surgery, and are therefore recommended to arrange for a family member or friend to take care of them. Driving will not be possible and a few days off work may be necessary. Eye pads are often worn for at least 24 hours and, if not, sunglasses can prevent dust or debris from getting in the eye. A series of post treatment checks will be carried out before clients are discharged, and customers can return for repeat check-ups for up to one year after the surgery.
Choose from the following options for eye surgery on both eyes with one year of aftercare appointments:
