Old Hall Farm, Ulverston, Cumbria LA12 8JA Directions

From Our Editors

A historic working farm in the picturesque village of Bouth in the Lake District, Old Hall Farm uses period machinery and methods from the 19th century. The farm is largely self sufficient, with livestock including Gloucester Old Spot pigs and shire horses living on-site. Guests can enjoy afternoon tea in the Chicken Shed Tea Room or browse the fresh produce in the farm shop. Alternatively, those looking to get their hands dirty can take part in one of the farm's courses, such as vintage tractor driving and how to work with steam engines.

Lovely to get so close up with the animals, and to see see the machinery of old. Much fun to be had on the barn swing and tasty eats too! The best bit though is the staff being so keen to engage with the kids about the farm

Fun, interesting, educational. Pleasant helpful staff. Have been twice with my grandchildren staying for 5 and 6 hours! Have also eaten in the Cafe, service can be a bit slow but well worth the wait as the food is freshly prepared. A day without rain in preferable but if you get the odd shower there is always the barn!
