From Our Editors

Mrs Dowsons is a park and working dairy farm that makes its own brand of ice cream with the fresh dairy produce from its own cows, with flavours including cottage cookie, toffee, and unusual alternatives like vegetable and black pudding. The park allows families to see various animals, ranging from rabbits to horses and alpacas, or take part in annual attractions such as live lambing or Halloween’s Scare Kingdom, while outdoor spaces allow for games and playing on tractors. The indoor area can be hired for children’s birthday parties, and also features a classroom for school and group visits.

Though small and totally uncorporate, as some ice cream farms are becoming, Mrs Dowson's is such a lovely place to go. The staff are very knowledgeable and truly care about the animals there ( not just an added " attraction" to get the punters in), it's refreshing that the farmer greets customers and explains about the dairy herd and there is a professional and sincere approach to real farming and working with the public. The farm is clean, well- organised, has professional staff and of course delicious ice cream available that truly is a quality product. I have recommended the farm as a genuine place to take the children and learn about animals and enjoy the surroundings.

We took our grandson in the last week of his school holidays only to find out that you were closed and only open on a weekend. Please can you put dates down and not just open in school holidays and weekends as schools vary.

The token was for a set period , it did not stipulate that for the last month of the coupon it was only open at weekends, so I turned up on a Wednesday with my granddaughter and it was not open, I was not the only one there disappointed. The reason we where told 'the children are back at school' mine was not as with the other parents and gaudians , we had to find alternative amusement for our children. Needless to say they where very disappointed

There were too few staff in the shop/cafe/entrance so it was busy and unclear where you went for each service.

There wasn't much there and the rabbit meeting didn't take place. Worst farm we've been to

Apart from the cow fields, the farm is small so it will not take long to see all the animals. There is a play area, sand pit and goals for children. The ice cream was lovely and the staff were kind enough to give us another ice cream after my son dropped it 30 seconds after buying it. In all it was a good day however I would probably go to another farm which is bigger and similarly priced.

Our 7 year old Granddaughter was so impressed that she couldn't wait to write about it in her journal.
