From Our Editors

Harveys Cellars is a wine, sherry and cocktail lounge serving a range of tapas dishes designed to complement the drinks menu. Located in Bristol’s city centre, close to various attractions and theatres, it is housed in medieval cellars that boast a rich history dating back to the 13th Century. Fittingly for the birthplace of the Harveys Bristol Cream, their drinks menu is a nod to Bristol’s sherry and wine heritage.

Portions on the offers of reasonable size but lack of variety didn't give any chance to try different options from menu to establish whether one likes it or not. Especially one member of the staff was very much unprofessional being mostly interested in their friends at one of the tables and openly discussing what happens after the individual is 'done' there not to mention international ignoring of the customer who have not received all the dishes ordered, followed by delayed and smaller portion as well as comment on everybody coming with Groupon vouchers equals no interest whatsoever.

One of our dishes was forgotten about, we had to ask for it at the end of our meal. At times service was slow, even though it wasn't busy. Staff were friendly. Food was lovely.

Food felt like it was a mish mash of whatever it is you had on your kitchen. Rather than a structured planned sequence of dishes. I ended up with some Mediterranean, some carribean and some British which didn't make for pleasant eating.

Lovely cocktails and friendly staff. Croquettes would have been nicer without the cheese for me. Thanks very much

Las time we went there was piano music and we were seated in an area near the piano - the atmosphere was great. This time we were in a different, brightly lit room, with no music (or so quiet that I couldn't hear it). There were also a few mistakes with the order - these were rectified but it just added to the general feeling of dissatisfaction. This experience was completely different to the one before, and as a result of it I won't be planning to go back.

Tapas is quite expensive if buying without a voucher. Better pudding selection would be good. We don't always want cake
