Dining in wonderful surroundings in the hotel built in 1465. The food was good and very hot - always a plus for me. The choice was slightly limited but adequate fr our needs. The staff were pleasant and attentive and the chef came out to check that our main meal was to our satisfaction.

Afternoon tea for 2 not served on traditional layered plates like you would expect so it doesn't feel like a real afternoon tea experience.

The meal was good other than the roast potatoes were over done and tasted re-heated. The staff were friendly and helpful.

Tucked away in a 600year building but right in the heart of Colchester. In our opinion the voucher was good value for money and reasonable food

This was a present for my Mother and she thoroughly enjoyed it. The food was plentiful and tasty and the service was great - the waitress was efficient and friendly. Would definately go again.

Greeted by a cheerful lady whom showed us to our table, bought out our wine, cream tea and coffees, her shift then ended and we were left alone in the restaurant until we searched out another chap whom was actually in the check-in reception to ask for another glass of wine, he was cheerful enough but then when we went to leave the lady I then hunted out was curt and off-ish, and to be honest we wished we hadn't done the honest thing and find her to pay for the extra wine, as we could have quite easily walked out as no one was about. In my opinion the food did not warrant what we paid even with it on a groupon, but it was nice to have something a little more special than just a lunch in a pub.

Food ok for what you pay. I would call it pub grab. Staff unprofessional.

My meal was nice and the staff were attentive, unfortunately they knew next to nothing about their wines ( this is down to lack of management training ) but they did let us sample some wines. The feeling you come away with is that it all feels a little unprofessional. To end I would say an OK place to have a meal but I would not make it a destination of choice.
