From Our Editors

Family visits to Shepherds Place Farm give animal lovers the opportunity to get acquainted with a whole menagerie of creatures. The Graizelound-based site accommodates a variety of rodents and other animals such as meerkats, ducks and geese, wallabies, deers, a pony, as well as exotic species including tortoises and rheas. The farm aims to make visits both fun and educational, allowing curious visitors to find out about the life cycle of eggs inside the incubator room, and possibly even handle real chicks. There are more hands-on experiences to be had at the guinea pig village, where guests can hold and learn how to care for the rodents, as well as the rabbits. Elsewhere, an on-site cafe serves hot and cold food, drinks and snacks, or groups can relax in the picnic area.

Very friendly people who run this farm. Better than we thought after reading negative reviews. Loved feeding the animals. Yes there were some empty enclosures but this is an ongoing farm with more to come. Plenty to see.

The staff are all very helpful and pleasant. I went with my daughter and granddaughter. We all had a great time. The Alpacas were very friendly. My granddaughter loved feeding the animals. You can buy little bags to feed the animals. The food was lovely and reasonably priced. Although if you want to take your own picnic there are plenty of places for you to sit. We thoroughly enjoyed the experience and would definitely recommend a visit there.

Nice place to go with children under 5, but nothing much for older kids other than a bouncy castle Needs and indoor play area, we were lucky with the weather but no point going on a wet day Staff were super friendly and the cafe / ice cream parlour is a must!
