It isn't often that I write to venues to offer constructive feedback however today I feel the need.
This morning I purchased a groupon voucher to treat my fiancee to a nice relaxing afternoon tea at the devonshire fell.
Initially it was welcoming, the member of staff who showed us to our table seemed annoyed that I hadn't printed the voucher, I pointed out that I had received an email saying that the app will suffice as proof of purchase, and to consider the environment before printing.
We ordered our food, when it arrived the presentation was good however the sandwiches had clearly been out in the open for a period of time as the bread had started to go stale.
On arrival we ordered a latte and cappuccino, we had drank these by the time the food arrived, I asked for two teas, these came without fresh cups, the waitress said "you're alright with those cups" before walking off, I then had to approach a separate waitress to get fresh ones.
The deserts were good although the scones were all under baked, the centres were raw. I'd hoped to get the waitresses attention at some point to swap the scones, however 30 minutes passed without so much as a glance over, by this point I didn't want a replacement, I was ready to leave.
I had ordered the sparkling afternoon tea but had to ask for this after the food had arrived and was told they would have to check the order first. Again I felt like a criminal and offered to show the email.
As we were leaving, I asked if the bill was settled, at which point I was told I needed to pay for some coffees we'd consumed on arrival, I pointed out that the scones were raw in their centres at which point she replied with "you should have said". I would have mentioned this had the staff made any contact with us. The coffees were taken off of the bill and we left.
I was made to feel that because I had ordered the afternoon tea through groupon, that I was not worthy of good customer service.
This is a huge disappointment as your venue came highly recommended by a close friend, we have been searching for a stunning venue to host our special day, the devonshire fell ticked all the boxes, we were almost ready to spend a large sum of money on a wedding day with yourselves, however due to todays experience we no longer feel that we would like to have our wedding with you.
This is why I felt the need to get in touch, to express my disappointment
