From Our Editors

Set in the village of Bardsey, The Bingley Arms is a 1000 year-old original English pub which serves up an array of rustic dishes as well as an extensive list of drinks. Featuring an 18th-century stone inglenook fireplace and a Dutch oven used for making bread, the venue invites guests to dine with a touch of history. Specialities such as roast loin of pork or a shank of lamb may be enjoyed, alongside a wide choice of ales and wines from around the world. The pub's chef puts emphasis on quality and aims to source the food locally.

Thoroughly enjoyed it. Beautiful sunny day and used the garden. Only drawback is there are a lot of stairs which quite steep. One of he oldest pubs/inns in the UK with fascinating history.

The afternoon tea included with our voucher was OK but was not as good as the previous one that we had had here. Sandwiches were slightly disappointing and some of the cakes were a little dry. Scones were very good however.

Friendly, helpful staff, beautiful venue. Unfortunately we were seated at a table that had been set with dirty plates, 1 looked as though it was covered in jam and cream, plus unwashed plastic spoons, surely silverware is more suitable for an upmarket afternoon tea. The afternoon tea was acceptable, however there was eggshell in my egg mayonnaise finger, which made me gag somewhat. The warm scones were very nice, but the wrapped butter portions had melted as the hot scones had been placed on top of them. The 2 small cakes were nice as was the shot glass of fool. We were offered refills which we accepted but it took a while to catch the waitress as they were busy. Probably wouldn't return for the afternoon tea. I always take my hubby as the guinea pig before taking friends or relatives.
