From Our Editors

A true institution in the heart of the West End, Kettner’s transports visitors back to the glamorous hot nights of the ’20s. With French-style décor and a house pianist reminding visitors of their iconic location within the world centre of musical theatre, this is a throwback to a time when the war was over and everyone was ready to party. Their menu is classic French, and the cocktail list is as sophisticated as it is daring.

The sandwiches and cakes were amazing!!! One of the best afternoon teas I have ever been to. Bare in mind its a very busy restaurant in Soho. We were there on Saturday so it was a bit loud because of others. Otherwise I would strongly recommend.

It is closing for refurbishment which is much needed. A lovely venue and original building but stained tea cups on arrival, a tiny squished table and not a great selection of sandwiches...

Need to improve all round when they re-open after the refurbishment.

I think it is time to refurbish the place. Also, there is no atmosphere. The place was almost empty and initially we were sat right next to two other diners. We asked to be moved and were placed st another table for two at the inside part of the room. Almost all of the larger tsbles were empty but not available to two diners.

Homemade sausage rolls and quiche were lovely. Sandwiches were embarrassing - butter and ham on white bread was like a sandwich you'd get on a garage although worse as even garage sandwiches might have some sort of condiment. wjyntheybwere served as fingers instead of triangles is anyone's guess - boringly plain but then that surmises them well. The Scones were undercooked and more like buns, very heavy. Cakes were petit fours really but were tasty. Delightful decor though but i still wouldn't come back and I certainly wouldn't recommend the afternoon tea at £70! Not even worth half that. And the waiter could not have been less interested - didn't say a word, distant and quite unwelcoming.
