Started in 1983 by Debbie and Carlos Rosas, this fitness plan was spawned from one basic principle, taking off ones shoes. Using a combination of dance, martial arts and yoga, NIA (Neural-muscular Integrative Action)is one of the top 3 fitness programmes and is taught in over 30 countries worldwide. People from different cultures all over the world are starting to experience this revolutionary fitness technique and it is having a dramatic impact on people of all ages. Many people, including health fanatics, have given up their usual methods of exercise such as bodybuilding and martial arts in favour of The NIA Dance Workout's revolutionary methods. Regarded as the pleasurable alternative to working out, NIA has been documented in over 700 media sources and has been the subject of many American news reports. Both Debbie and Carlos Rosas are time served in the industry of health and fitness and have been implementing these techniques for over 25 years. They have both had book deals and have been involved with books such as Non-Impact Aerobics and The NIA technique. Debbie has worked on various committees as a health advisor and has also made presentations at a number of conventions. Carlos was originally a tennis pro and spent his earlier years teaching and playing in competitions before founding NIA, he has also done work for charity. A NIA dance class is held at the Expressions studio in London every Monday evening.
