The Merry Monk in Isleham has every right to be jovial, boasting a feature in this year's Good Food Guide. The establishment began life back in the 17th century as a row of three terrace cottages, later becoming a local watering hole heated by roaring log fires. The building's third incarnation has seen it become a fine-dining gastro pub combining the highlights of its past with all the inspiration of 21st-century gastronomy. Diners are greeted by an atmospheric dining area offset by food as rich in presentation as taste, while drinkers can take advantage of a cosy bar area.
