From Our Editors

Once a coaching house, The Sirloin Pub received its present moniker after King James I, according to local legend, knighted a particularly succulent loin of beef in nearby Hoghton Tower. Today’s pub retains much of the inn’s original character with traditional flooring, low ceilings and log fires. The atmosphere is complemented by the restaurant’s range of pub classics, and accompanying the homemade fare is a selection of drinks including cask ale, lager and wine.

Great food but service was a little slow. Get peoples orders and get the starters out quickly, people are more patient then !

We sent two messages to you - one by your website template & the other by email & you have ignored both. The Wine & Cheese Festival was nothing short of shambolic, please reply to my messages. Mike Sutton

It was a shambles....no food left by 7.30 and overcrowded. Ridiculous! Money was returned without question.

Cheese and Wine night was poor. Ran out of cheese!

The cheese and wine event advertising was misleading. The staff did extremely well in coping with what they did but it had not been prepared to meet the numbers. The space was insufficient, lack of seating, music too loud, ran out cheese and no wine tasting whatsoever. I was embarrassed I have recommended it to my 2 friends and hope it doesn't put people off going to the normal pub.
