Merewood Country House Hotel, Windermere

We had a lovely romantic stay. The staff were very warm and welcoming, friendly and helpful. Everything went so smooth, we got our cruise tickets on the arrival. Great atmosphere with luxury surroundings beautiful bar and restaurant. Everything was superb. Loved the chilling at the fireplace lounge, drinking cocktails. The food was delicious and our room nice and clean! Amazing deal from Groupon.

Great hotel. Upgraded to a lake view which was well worth it. The view of the lake with the snow topped hills in the background were spectacular. Lovely big room, well furnished with period furniture that really went with the feel of the place. All the staff we encountered were helpful and friendly. Very nice breakfast on both days and we ate in the hotel on the second night. The food was well cooked and presented and tasted great. Actually had 2 Groupon deals, the first included a cream tea when we arrived which was great (loads of clotted cream!!!). The second included a lake cruise - we walked down to the dock at Brockhole (about 15 minutes there, 20 minutes uphill coming back) and got off the boat at Ambleside and Bowness for a wander. All in all a great 2 night break at a lovely hotel - would definitely recommend.
