From Our Editors
York Pole Dance Academy started swinging in 2005, inspired by a love of hip-hop music. The team of instructors try to inject an urban feel of this genre into their classes, which are a 50/50 mix of dance moves and pole fitness. Sessions are held throughout the week to suit busy lifestyles, and are suitable for learners with a wide range of fitness levels. Classes can be booked on a pay-as-you-go basis, and students who reach an advanced level can sit a freestyle-based exam. The academy boasts two centres: one in York Sports Club, Shipton Road; the other in Stockton on the Forest.
