The Hotel

Situated just 15 miles from the English Lake District and deep in the heart of the Eden Valley, Appleby Castle is a motte and bailey residence that has been held by the Kings of England and Scotland. In the 17th century, the Castle was the preferred residence of Lady Anne Clifford, a patron of authors and literature. It also boasts one of the few remaining intact Norman keeps.

Guests staying at the Castle can enjoy spacious rooms, some equipped with four-poster 17th-century beds as well as en suite or separate bathrooms. Facilities include a great hall, games room, and a tennis court. Appleby Castle guests have the right to fish on both sides of the River Eden immediately beneath the weir.
