About This Deal
The Deal
Les Saisons Russes du XX1 siecle returns to London as part of the Coliseum's Russian Season, highlighting the works of Sergei Diaghilev. This show includes Petrushka, which tells the tale of a love triangle between three puppets at the St Petersburg Fair, with music by Stravinsky. Les Sylphides' Chopiniana also features, set to music by Frederic Chopin and originally performed by Russian and Polish dancers in 1909, exploring a young poet's reverie and melancholy. The evening is rounded off with Polovtsian Dances, an excerpt from Alexander Borodin's Prince Igor, which sees slave-girls and warriors perform celebratory dances of Khan Konchak's tribe of nomads, choreographed by Michel Fokine.
