The Event
Hove Lawns hosts a weekend of gastronomical delights as the Foodies Festival comes to town. The chefs’ theatre houses demonstrations and talks delivered by seasoned chefs and personalities from the culinary world, such as The Great British Bake Off winner John Whaite. Pop-up restaurants serve a wide variety of cuisines, while international fare can be sampled on Street Food Avenue. Visitors can seek retro refreshments at a vintage tea tent, or consult with beverage experts at a real-ale and cider farm. Elsewhere, a chilli market holds daily chilli-eating competitions and a vintage kitchen area offers handy equipment and supplies. Children’s workshops give youngsters an entertaining introduction to cooking, and live music acts provide a fitting soundtrack for the proceedings. Attendees (usually £12 for standard entry) can roam the varied site from 11am to 7pm with the help of a handy show guide (£3).
