Our Day Boats offer a unique way of exploring the heart of the English countryside. Learn a new skill from our trainers experienced in narrowboating, and then take your own little boat out for the day.
Foxton Locks is the longest section of staircase locks in the country, and draws visitors from miles around. With your own little Day Boat, you can travel to the bottom of the locks and moor up right outside the pub, before setting off on foot to explore the area.
Many of our guests are celebrating a special occasion and bring birthday cakes and picnics. This is an activity suitable for all the family. We provide life jackets for under 12s, and encourage teenagers to have a go at driving (under adult supervision.)
About This Deal
Hire a Day Boat from Market Harborough, suitable for 2-12 people. We offer all the training you need to captain your own little narrowboat up to Foxton Locks and back. You might find time for a bite to eat at a waterfront pub, or moor up for a towpath picnic.
Perhaps you are celebrating something special – an anniversary or birthday – or perhaps you simply want to enjoy the company of family and friends for a few hours, away from all other distractions.
Our Day Boats are equipped with kitchens and a toilet. The sides of the boat roll up in good weather so you can enjoy our lovely scenic waterways close up.
You will take the 2.5 hour journey through two swingbridges to the bottom of Foxton Locks, where you can moor up for some waterside refreshment at one of the pubs. Although you won't go up the locks themselves, this is a lovely destination to learn more about our English canal history.
Everyone can have a turn at driving the boat, as you turn round and head back through the beautiful countryside.
You will disembark back at Union Wharf Marina at around 4-4.30pm (depending on the time of year)
