We’ve cut to the chase with the what, where and how on all our hair colour and highlights deals in Glasgow, as well as all your other burning questions.
Glasgow is not short of great hairdressers, and award-winning ones at that. Whether you’ve just seen an inspirational picture on Instagram and are searching for a last-minute deal after work, or you’ve got a special occasion coming up, you’ll be spoilt for choice for hair highlights and colour near you.
We know men like to be with the boys down at the barbers, but when it comes to colour, most of these trendy spots just offer a cut. Don’t let women have all the fun, here are a few salons in Glasgow that are recommended for being a dab hand at men’s colour.
Balayage is a French colouring technique (meaning “sweep” or “paint”), which involves colouring the end of the hair by hand, creating a natural look that is much easier to maintain than highlights. Although it feels fairly new on the hair scene, it has been around since the swinging 70’s. It’s a bit of a game changer in the hair world, and the best way to create a sun kissed, I’ve just been on the beach for 2 weeks kind of look, as opposed to highlights which start from the top and are applied in a more uniform way.
When it comes to choosing your hair colour, experts say the best way to select your colour is to assess your skin tone. If you have cool tones, dark brown or ash hues will suit you best, whereas if you have a warmer complexion, opt for caramels and golds.
You can also match it to your eye colour. If your eyes are green or grey, blonde highlights are a good choice for you. If they’re blue, then platinum works well, and if your eyes are dark brown, then brown highlights will look more flattering.
