Boasting views across the Firth of Forth, The Elgin Hotel is located within the coastal village of Charleston. Here, guests can take walks along the coast, soaking up small cafes and and establishments in neighbouring towns, while Deep Sea World is also just a 19-minute drive away. The historic town of Dunfermline is only an 11-minute car ride inland, where sights include the 17th century Pittencrieff House Museum which covers 350 million years of history. The hotel is in the process of redecorating the bedrooms with half complete at present and rest was completed in May 2015. Each of the 15 en suite bedrooms feature televisions, free Wi-Fi access and tea and coffee making facilities, many also boasting sea views. Traditional Scottish meals are served up in the on-site bar and Pentland restaurant, with light lunches and more substantial meals crafted using seasonal produce. The hotel is popular for romantic getaways and wedding celebrations, with a charming waterfront setting for couples.
Views are lovely, shame the hotel isn’t been used to optimal potential. Could be amazing. The waiting staff were lovely, man and lady presumably owners were rude, especially the man, heard him speaking to customers and staff in this manner, it was not nice to witness. Also rules about devices are true, they don’t want you to use them in public places. Dog friendly.....no they aren’t, scruffy rooms at the back for the dog owners and dogs not allowed in restaurant area whilst you’re eating therefore the dog has to stay in the room. Again not ideal, our dog suffers with separation anxiety, hence why we looked for a dog friendly hotel. And other dogs which were left in rooms for the same reason were constantly yapping.
Location, staff friendly and helpful, good food and portion size. Quiet hotel to recharge the batteries!
Nice location very relaxing
I would have given a four star rating if it had,nt have been for the food, on our first night there two people complained about their meals and sent them back! I had pork, and whilst there was plenty of it ,it was tough and pretty tasteless,of course i did the stiff upper lip thing and ate it and said it was fine,it wasnt!! Apart from that the hotel is nice, pretty basic and staff are friendly enoug
The room had a bay window that you could sit out on.
Meal was very good and a great deal for what it cost
Very friendly and helpful staff, had a lovely room with a sea view which often do not get with a voucher so that was lovely. Room cleaned every day and generally lovely hotel would recommend.
Room basic, food not great, had to send the meal back, the alternative wasn't great either.
Customer service on departure needs improving. No reflection for quality of meals.
Dinner offer only includes the main meal.
Friendless from all the staff.
rob the hotel host couldn’t do enough to make our stay good
