Staff were really friendly, the setting was gorgeous (we were lucky enough to get a very sunny day so sat outside to have our afternoon tea), and the afternoon tea was amazing especially the homemade scotch egg

We were booked in for afternoon tea but after sitting down we had to wait half an hour before it arrived. The sandwiches were dry and we had to ask for milk for the hot drinks. Very disappointing as I had been before and was excellent.

While the setting was lovely when we were seated the table cloth was so long I ended up clearing the China off my table we then had to re set it ourselves with cutlery that had been on the floor. We waited forty minutes for our afternoon tea and had to ask for a fresh pot of tea as it had gone stone cold while we waited. However when the meal did arrive it was lovely and we thoroughly enjoyed it

I don’t know what to say we were shown a coffee table laid for tea which was ridiculous in the corner of a corridor which was freezing cold. The waitress/manageress thatcserved us had attitude & reluctantly moved us into the dining room which wasn’t much warmer. Yet they had a lounge that was warm and welcoming was it beyond anyone’s wit and intelligence to set the two tables needed only one other afternoon tea in the dining room. Service from other staff was pleasant except the first person who displayed an unpleasant attitude. The food was delicious but I wouldn’t go back. Sadly the place needs a serious refurb and it sad to see it i this beautiful building. My tip go when it’s warmer if you go at all.
