Part of the QHotels chain, which runs 21 four star venues across the UK in both tranquil countryside and bustling urban spots, Oulton Hall is a historical country estate located a 20-minute drive from Leeds. Each of the en suite guest bedrooms features a hospitality tray and TV. The lounge area, with its French parlour theme, is the setting for an afternoon tea, and the restaurant serves up a creative and ever-changing menu. The Champagne bar stocks a long list of cocktails and an extensive selection of bubbly, and features a plush interior with chandeliers and a sun-trap terrace overlooking the grounds. Sports enthusiasts are catered for with a 27-hole golf complex, complete with a driving range and academy for learners, while relaxation-seekers can enjoy the spa’s swimming pool, steam room, Jacuzzi and variety of treatments, from massages to facials.

The staff were very friendly. The pool is all one depth which is brilliant as I don't like deep ends.

Groupon Shamed !! i was short changed my massage in favour of full paying customers. Despite paying 28.00 more for a massage. Avoid its dirty overcrowded and nothing works, and dont complain either because they dont care, as soon as they learn you are a group on payer thats it. I want my money back. The facilities are poor substandard and dirty- the steam room was broken, the lockers did'n't lock properly and when they locked they could not be opened. At the same time, you need staff to type in a special code so that they can access the locker, bearing in mind, they can access your belongings with this code if your back is turned. I prefer the old pound coin slot if you ask me. There water cooler tantamount to a horrible school boys fountain at the side of the pool, with no cups arguably unsanitary. To find the spa you have to walk through the littered hall ways of mounds of trolleys and laundry hamper full of dirty clothes, not relaxing or inviting. I ordered a 25 minute massage and we paid £28 each in addition to our £30.00 entry fee We asked that they be at the same time as my friend, told them we'd like it together. This didn't happen despite us saying its a birthday treat its a girly experience together. This followed by her arriving to my room 10 minutes behind schedule. She then completed my therapy in 7 minutes and told me that she had other customers. When I asked to speak to the manager Martin, his first words were you had a group on voucher didn't you, as if by some way my group-on voucher did not entitle me to the same level of customer service than an undiscounted customer would. He then proceeded to tell me that I should have asked for a duo room, rather than therapy at the same time as at the same time does not mean in the same room not what is meant in the spa business. The room I was in had two beds, it makes sense as we are booked in together. He did not agree that his staff were wrong and sold me a 7 minute massage as a 25 minute but stated that he would give me another massage if I could have waited a few hours and I couldn't, wait in the busted steam room, swim in the murky over populated swimming pool. The entire thing had lost the moment for me. They would not have stood to the standard of a Devere Hotel. This ruined my experience for my birthday and I am a few quid lighter-.

Only £15 per person for five hours spa access, could have been excellent value for money. When our party of four arrived, although all staff were full of smiles and very pleasant, I was asked five times by four different people, my name and what treatments we'd booked in the first 20 minutes, waiting for our towels, robes, etc. We found the ambient temperature throughout quite cool, the lack of spa facilities was also disappointing, which was a fairly well equipped gym, decent sauna, pool/jacuzzi and a cold steam room that apparently hadn't worked for several weeks. There was a relaxation room, but only for clients who purchased treatments. The changing rooms and shower facilities were tired and in need of a deep clean and mini refurb'. Consequently, the relaxing, pampered spa experience was slightly tainted. However, I did pay for a massage and manicure, both of which were up to scratch.

All facilities were not working and spa was very busy despite being a weekday. Might be quieter in afternoon and check that all facilities are working before you attend.

Small pool, poor choice of any other facilities . Food/drink poor, hot drinks served cold, cold sandwiches served frozen. Too many people booked in on the same day far too overcrowded for the space. Showers dirty and lockers broken. Pool was being used for a class so not available for spa guests for first hour. Treatments mediocre and overpriced. Disappointing visit .
