From Our Editors

Cockliffe Country House Hotel is a historic and traditional English rural estate, now providing four star accommodation and fine dining to guests seeking an escape to the country. All rooms feature a digital TV, and tea and coffee making facilities, and visitors can enjoy European cuisine with Sunday lunch, a la carte feasts or set dinner menus. The venue is available for conferences but is particularly popular for weddings due to its 17th-century architecture and idyllic, secluded location.

Bad service.stale food. Asked for another pot of tea and after waiting for a long time didnt get it so left. Would understand but there was only 1 other couple there. Dont know how they can charge the groupon price let alone the full price.

Had a lovely afternoon tea with my family .The food was good but i was rather disappointed with the surroundings in the room in which we were served tea, definitely in need of some TLC!! I used to visit Cockliffe house some years ago visiting the family who lived there & it felt like the decor was still the same !!! Would certainly visit again tho '

Tea is served in a very gloomy room which is in need of repairs & decorating. Soggy sandwiches, rock hard scones & watery jam.

Very pleasant afternoon. Food was plentiful and excellent quality. Service was very polite and attentive without being obtrusive. Surroundings were very relaxing and peaceful. Great value and highly recommended.

Scones and cakes either hard and dry or burnt or misshapen, jam was more like syrup with a bit of fruit added. Told waitress her reply was do you want any more. As if, couldn't get out quickly enough. Décor very dated and in a poor condition.

Strawberry jam was tinned strawberries in syrup Lemon meringue tartlet was so runny I drank it from the pastry shell. Generous with pots of tea Would have felt it was overpriced at £46 but for £22 for 2 with a glass of champagne thrown in it was fair. The place itself needs some TLC room we were in was taking shabby chic to a new level Friend used the loo and came back after trying to find the manager as it was not very clean. Disappointing as I had a lovely lunch there years ago.
