Great afternoon out. Some little confusion on arrival as the rain was bouncing down and we did not know where to make contact. Out captain was hiding the boat under a bridge so we could get aboard without getting soaked. Our afternoon tea was very pleasant, my only criticism being that the unlimited tea and coffee was self service (not a problem) but was from a flask of hot water which was not really hot enough. The cruise was entertaining, we stopped for a very interesting talk from the Captain at one point, and I was allowed to drive the boat on the way back. All in all, a smashing afternoon.

It was ok but the food was all shop bought and not special, the wine was poor and served in plastic 'glasses' which were none too clean, tea bags and coffee jar to serve yourself from a flask of hot water. That part of the canal is not particularly interesting. Feeding the swans was nice. The owner was friendly and tried to make the most of an unremarkable trip. Overall it was underwhelming.

We were treated so well by Arthur, Andrew and Mark. Mark took the trouble to educate us on the history of Burscough and the surrounding areas. Arthur was the skipper and revelled in the stories of long ago. All fascinating stuff. The cocktail and accompanying sandwiches and scones and of course the weather! Made the trip very memorable.
