Many thanksfor the deep tissue massage session, assessment and advice. It was easy to book an appointment through the clinic’s website. My therapist met me exactly in time, and the session lasted 60 minuets as scheduled. I feel better now after my treatment.

I hate writing bad reviews but the massage I got from London Health Hub was the worst one I have ever had. I have had more than 200 massages in my life so I know a thing or two about what makes a massage good and bad. And this one wins the worst one award - hands down! The massage was performed by a young guy in his 20s (I think) and he used his knuckles like 90% of the time. He seemed to be skilled enough to at least spot the right areas where I had tension, but his technique was really to just slide his knuckles over and over again in the same area with a lot of pressure. And this is possibly the most uncomfortable way to receive a massage treatment - even an elbow massage would be less painful in my opinion. I can actually handle a lot of pressure but this was the most painful massage I have ever had due to the poor technique this guy used. He also run his knuckles over my spine multiple times which I know is a big no no and I actually have several bruises around my spine now because of this technique. The masseuse did give me a disclaimer at the beginning of the massage that there could be some "bruising or redness" after the massage and I honestly didn't think that would be the case. I have felt sore for sure after a massage but never got any bruises. Right now (one day after) when I look at my back in the mirror I have a lot of visible bruises and I have been taking pain medication all day to cope. In all fairness, I feel like my back has been a punching bag for a professional boxer. I know I'm partially to blame here since I should have just said to the guy use less pressure and please use other techniques. Well, I didn't and now I'm paying the price which basically means my mobility will suffer for the next 3-5 days give it or take. I honestly feel like I have been part of a big fight and even sleeping hurts when I try to move around on the bed. I'm aware this company has a lot of therapists and it's pretty much a random game who you will get since they don't tell you the names of the therapists or their qualifications. They all just have names such as "Clinician 1,2,3 etc". Mine was clinician 4 which I would honestly recommend anyone to avoid unless you love pain. I have nothing against the guy himself, he was a very lovely guy, but I feel like I would be doing the wrong thing here by not addressing this. On top of this, I need to point out that my massage itself lasted approximately 40mins instead of 60 minutes. I know this because I was invited to the therapy room precisely at 11:00 and the consultation bit took a little over 5mins. The next thing I remember is that I was already fully dressed and ready to go at 11:50 am when my masseuse tried to sell me another session which I kindly refused. So, in summary, you might get very lucky and get a good person who will give you a nice massage worth the cost you paid for the voucher. But just be aware they don't provide you with any towels so you either have to bring your own or manage to be without one. So you get what you pay for and I think I got something I definitely didn't expect.

Sports Massage

This form of massage is ideal for those involved in regular activity. The techniques used are incorporated from other forms of massage, and generally uses faster techniques with sustained deep and strong pressure, to allow deep manipulation of the muscular system, bringing oxygenated blood to the area and flushing out toxins. This helps aid in muscle recovery, tissue repair and rehabilitation. Sports massage can be used to prior to exercise as well in order to increase flexibility, as well as post events. It is not unusual to feel soreness and discomfort after treatment which can last a few days.

Deep Tissue Massage

Deep tissue massage is not as forceful a technique as sports massage. It focuses on releasing tightness and tension within the muscle belly and connective tissue. This technique focuses more on the problematic regions of the body opposed to the whole body. The pressure applied is generally strong but can be altered based on the patients feedback. The force has to get deep enough to be able to help break up scar tissue and knots. As a result, it is not unusual to feel soreness and discomfort for a few days after the treatment, which would soon dissipate.

Swedish Massage

This is used to relax and rejuvenate the body, bringing energy back into the system. It uses light pressure with gentle, calming strokes to help reduce overall tension and stress. As the technique is not as deep, it can help break up more superficial knots, without leaving the post treatment soreness that deep tissue may cause. The gentle movements can also increase the lymph drainage, helping reduce the build up of toxins within the body.
