Just about average. Certainly not a bargain. The whole place is sad and more than a bit rundown. The fare was heavy on cakes and scones and light on finger sandwiches, which were uninspiring anyway (tuna spread, egg, cheese and pickle, but we asked for non-meat, so that may have been the result). No tea choice was offered, so builders it was. No refills offered, no hot water either. All in all, there are many better tea-time offers around on Groupon.
This place is really run down, and well overdue investment.
The afternoon tea itself was reasonable, and the location is great, just the old crockery etc and worn out decor inside really lets it down.
Staff were attentive and polite.
The afternoon tea through groupon was good value, however that was quickly wiped out due to the very expensive drinks.
I last visited as a child in the 70s. I think the decor is still the same! But other than looking a bit tired with a swirly carpet, it was a lovely view over the river and the cream tea was ok for the price. The other thing was paying to park - i think customers should get a refund on their parking. Otherwise service was very attentive and we weren't hurried out once we'd finished.
