Strapped to an experienced instructor from Skydive Central, daredevils will plunge out of an aircraft at heights of up to 13,000ft (usually £175 for one, or £265 for two). After free-falling for around 40 seconds, the instructor will open the parachute to allow around 5 minutes of cruising above the Cotswolds at speeds of up to 120mph. On the descent, sights may include the Cotswold Water Park and the patchwork fields of the English countryside. To remember the thrill-seeking antics, a DVD or stills of the jump can be purchased on the day for a surcharge.
Choose from the following tandem skydive options:
£175 for one person (30% off)
£265 for two people (47% off)
Groupon Asks Ash Kemp, partner at Skydive Central, to tell us more about his best jumps and why skydiving should be on everyone’s bucket list.
G: How did you get into skydiving?
“My brother, sister and I did a charity static line course in 1990 and from there I was hooked! I was a very keen footballer but once I’d jumped from a plane I was hooked and never played again. I’ve now done over 4000 jumps.”
G: Where is the best place you have been skydiving and why?
“California. Great weather, great people and loads of fun.”
G: What do you love most about it?
“Mainly the adrenaline, but also the fact not many people surprisingly do it as a job or hobby! There are only 5000 full members of the British Parachute Association, so you are in a unique club. The social side is amazing.”
G: Why should someone try it?
“Just for the pure fact you will never regret it. It’s like Marmite, you either love it or hate it, but unlike Marmite you’ll tell your friends and family you actually got out of an aeroplane two miles up! It’s got to be on everyone’s bucket list.”
G: What experience do the instructors have?
“All instructors are British Parachute Association qualified. Tandem instructors need to have over 1000 jumps before they can go on a course. The course is very intense and many fail, so you are guaranteed the best.”
